As reported by the reliable source ESPNSoccernet, Barcelona sporting vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu is confident of securing the services of Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas, as they believe that they have plenty of time left to secure his signature.
“They [the talks] are going in the right direction,” he said. “We will try and do what we can with the money we have.
“We have until August 30 to do things and I am sure we will.” The haggling between the club continues with Arsenal valuing Fabregas at £40 million, though the suggestion is that Barcelona are close to fixing a price.
With Barcelona’s tight budget it seemed that they might not be able to afford the purchase of Fabregas as well as Sanchez, and earlier last week Arsenal gave Barcelona until the end of July to reach an agreement for Fabregas. So it will be interesting in Wenger sticks to his guns and allows Barca to only negotiate up until the end of July or he allows them to continue to bully Arsenal into releasing their former Academy player. With Fabregas’ consistently niggling Hamstring injuries is this really the right time to move on and become less ‘fab-orientated’?
