Arsene Wenger last week revealed the 23-year-old had been given permission to miss the friendly against Cologne and training camp in Germany “to sort out his future”. Bendtner has been missing on all of the pre-season trips and has fallen heavily out of favour of the Gunners manager, and now with the new arrival of Gervinho, his opportunities at Arsenal are even more restricted.
Bendtner was photographed in Portugal and is expected to push through the formalities of his move over the weekend, concluding a summer-long search for a new club. It will be no real loss for Arsenal, but will Wenger look to reinforce the attacking/midfield lineup even more with the departure of Bendtner, and the imminent selling of Eboue as well? It’s safe to say that judging by Wenger’s usual behaviour he won’t, but is this the right solution? We have the likes of Walcott, Rosicky, Nasri (if he stays), Arshavin, Miyaichi (if he gets a work permit) to contest Gervinho for the wing positions but will this be enough once more Arsenal players start getting injured during the grueling campaigns?
