Big Congolese central defender Christopher Samba has added further doubt over his career at Blackburn Rovers by stating he has a strong desire to play Champions League football.
Although being heavily with a move to the Emirates, who can offer his wish, Rovers have yet to receive a concrete offer for their former captain, but it is also being reported that Arsene Wenger has been weighing up a £12m move for the defender for months.
On the matter Samba stated: “I want to play Champions League football. Which player doesn’t dream of that?
“A player who has no ambition to play at a higher level has made a mistake and chosen the wrong sport.
“I don’t know what is happening with Arsenal because I am not dealing with it and it’s not my problem.
“At the minute I am still at Blackburn but it would be a big lie if I told you ‘everything is good and I don’t want to play in the Champions League’.

“I don’t know what the board and the manager at Blackburn are planning or what provisions they have made for signing new players.
“It is difficult for me at the moment because I’m just waiting to see what happens and concentrating on my preparation for the new season.”
The lack of tabled bids for Samba can probably be pinned down to Arsene’s high prioritisation of other long-term transfer target Phil Jagielka. It has been reported that Wenger has been knocked back on a £10m bid, although he is expected to come back with a stronger offer for the Toffee’s experienced defender.
Personally, out of the two, I would prefer Jagielka over Samba due to the edge he possesses in agility and movement, although in saying this I wouldn’t complain if we signed Samba. Another consideration is other rumoured target Gary Cahill who also ticks all the boxes with a wealth of Premier League experience, international experience and good aerial ability.
