In his time in Ligue 1 last season, Gervinho managed 15 goals and created the most assists in the league for current Ligue 1 champions, Lille, and was instrumental in their cup double.
Now no longer in the French league, Gervinho expects more of the same success with Arsenal and expects us to finally put an end to our six-season drought saying: “I have always followed Arsenal in the Premier League. At some points they were really good, but also had some difficulties like a lot of big clubs do.
“They did not finish in the position they wanted, and sometimes seasons like that happen – but we all know the potential of this team and hopefully we will do better next season.
“I can expect a great season from Arsenal, with a lot of success and a lot of emotion at the end.
“I expect us to achieve our goals, and also in the seasons beyond.

“I hope the fans will enjoy watching me play and that at the end of the season we will have the opportunity to celebrate something great together.”
Set to make his debut for Arsenal against Cologne on Saturday, I am curious to see what Gervinho can offer in attack for the gunners. Wenger has hailed his ability in attack comparing him to Theo Walcott, while former gunner Kolo Toure has lauded him as the next Samuel Eto’o, a very high claim indeed. All that is needed now is to see if he possesses the quality that makes him worthy of these claims and whether he is fluid with our style of play. Where do you think he will play in the line-up? Who do you think he will replace in the first team? Feel free to leave a comment below!
