With yesterdays game against the Malaysia XI, Ramsey’s skill and potential were on hand to see and although it shouldn’t be used to make conclusive judgments, it seems his ability to plug the hole of Cesc or Samir, if either does indeed leave, seems to be increasing.
Ramsey enjoyed a great game playing as an attacking midfielder, effectively taking Fabrega’s position in the starting line-up and dare I say managed to produce exceptional skill of similar nature to the midfield maestro.
In the fourth minute of play, the Welshman had no qualms about shouldering responsibility and taking the spot kick when Wilshere was blatently fouled inside the area, opting to simply hit the ball down the middle of the goal once the keeper committed.
Some time later he managed to produce a moment of brilliance when he looped a raking 25-yard pass into the path of Walcott, who lobbed over the goalkeeper’s head, to score the second of the match.
Ramsey also had the chance to grab a brace, unable to finish a great move by Arsenal after he produced a excellently-timed run forward.

The performance shown was akin to a man who is pushing hard for a starting spot and hungry for more football, reflecting the words he spoke a few days ago where he stated: “I’m going to give it everything to start the season and hopefully stay in the team.
“I want to be a starter so, if given the opportunity, I will give my best to keep the shirt.
“At the end of last season I was just getting back into the swing of things.
“I put in a couple of good performances so hopefully now I can have a good pre-season and produce those types of performances week-in, week-out.”
After the horror of his double-leg break against Stoke City it is great to see that Ramsey has come back with a fire in his belly. We saw this with his inspired performance against Manchester United where he scored the winning goal at the back-end of last season. Although the true extent of Ramsey remains yet to be seen, I can still see him pushing for a starting spot whether Fabregas and Nasri stay or not. Do you think he has what it takes?
