According to various sources, Arsene Wenger has signed Brazil left back Andre dos Santos for £6.2million. There has been no official confirmation from Arsenal as of yet, but signs are looking promising for Wenger to finally strengthen the backline. And even more interestingly, apparently Wenger is showing hot interest in Inter Milan star Wesley Sneijder which would excite any fan and will greatly improve the squad.
Wenger has apparently made his move for the attacking 28-year-old Fenerbahce defender, who has scored 10 goals in 52 games since joining from Corinthians and has 22 Brazil caps. He is expected to have a medical with Arsenal on Tuesday before completing a four-year deal worth £40,000 a week. The news of Arsenal’s interest for Santos came just hours after Armand Traore was set for a medical QPR ahead of a £2m move.
According to The Daily Mail, Wenger has also enquired about Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder, although his whopping £250,000 wages would represent a serious hurdle (is he serious?!) Apparently Inter would still like to shift the Dutchman to finance a deadline day deal for Carlos Tevez from City.
As much as I would love for Sneijder to link up Robin Van Persie, I seriously doubt that this would happen as its just too damn good to be true. If he is demanding £250k in wages that is just plain insane, and there is no way that the move would happen. But hopefully Gunners board will fork out some more coin in order to fund his large wage package and offer him somewhere in the region of £125-150k a week. This would be a HUGE purchase for Arsenal and really send out a statement of intent to the Premier League’s elite. But to see him come to the Emirates for half of his demanded wages is just a dream.
