Arsenal target and Argentine international Lucas Bigilia stated last month that he would like to move to a more high profile league from Anderlecht, saying to Belgium source Het Nieuwsblad: “I think I have ended my cycle at Anderlecht and I want to do something new, the board know what I want to do.
“I know that playing for the Argentina national side means I get plenty of exposure and opens lots of doors.
“Sometimes I feel I have to do more because I am playing in Belgium. I am aware that it would be easier if I was playing in a different league.”
With Denilson making a return to his home club Sao Paulo and Diaby out of action after surgery, it has left first-team player Alex Song with little cover provided he were to become injured and some point in the first half of the season, rallying cries from Arsenal fans to sign back-up.
Being a Argentine international and estimated to be valued at a lowly £6m , it was expected that Biglia could very well be a probable target, seemingly fitting well into Arsene Wenger’s transfer policies.
But after extended inactivity in the transfer window by Arsenal, it is now being reported that Liverpool are set to hijack the move due to a report saying that their own first choice midfielder Lucas Leiva is set to leave the club on loan.
The Mail reports that manager Kenny Dalglish sees Biglia as more compatible with new signings Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam and would like to see him at Anfield after a recommendation from former player and Argentine Javier Mascherano.
After his recent signings, I wouldn’t put it passed Dalglish to make an addition to his revamped squad. Shaking things up at Anfield after a dismal run has many giving praise to Dalglish, and although I find his most of his signings relatively mediocre this could be a good move. Hopefully his spending attitude will rub off on Wenger sooner rather than later!
