In what is starting to become a Wenger trend, it has been reported by the Mail that Arsene is close to snapping up yet another young talented Spanish midfielder, although this time from the clutches of Real Madrid rather than Barcelona.
16 year-old Jose Rodriguez Martinez is tipped to be an up-and-coming star along with similar signings Jon Miquel Toral, Hector Bellerin and reserves central defender Ignasi Miquel, who recently won the Euro U-19 championship with Spain.
Voted player of the tournament in the U-17 world club championship, the young Spaniard impressed Arsenal scout, Francisco Cagigao, and has reportedly already seen what Arsenal’s youth system has to offer in London.
With the idea that it would be easier to make his way into the first team squad and become a full professional much quicker than he would at Real Madrid, the young star finds a move to the Emirates very attractive rather than staying at the Bernebau.
Furthermore, he is also understood to have spoken to Arsenal captain (at the moment) Cesc Fabregas who reportedly is encouraging him to make the move to Arsenal.
From what I have seen of this young player, it is pretty safe to say he is going to be a player of the future. While I like what I see from the youngster though, the idea that we will mould him into a magnificent player and have him go back to his homeland is ringing in my ears. Hopefully he wears the shirt with pride and absolute loyalty, and just doesn’t see us as his way to break into the Real first-team.
