Although there has been much speculation surrounding the futures of star Arsenal players Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, the certainty around the moves has been sceptical at best.
While Arsenal fans have been hoping to hear that we will retain at least one of the duo, an unlikely source in the form of Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh has shed light on the issue with news that will not please Arsenal ears.
Telling L’Equipe he said on the situation: “I think both of them are likely leaving the club, it’s a difficult situation for the manager.
“I don’t think it’s a matter of money for Fabregas or Samir. I think he [Wenger] is looking for their successors and he hasn’t found them. I think before letting them go he wants to find the players to replace them.
“That’s my opinion about the situation. The problem is the season starts this weekend, and it’s even more difficult for us.
“I think in the situation the club was in, they could have let only one leave, especially Cesc, he wants to leave for several seasons because he’s born in Barcelona. But Samir is now in a situation where he has one year left on his contract, so if they don’t sell him this summer he will leave for free at the end of the season.

“Is the club ready to refuse a little bit more than €20 million to keep a good player for one season? It’s strange, at a club like Arsenal, that he’s now with one year left on his contract, that the club couldn’t make him sign a new contract before.”
I am inclined to agree with the Moroccan on his stance about the two. It seems inevitable that the two are going to find their way to the exit door sooner rather than later, so hopefully Wenger has been able to identify suitable replacements while also persuading them to come the Emirates.
As was hotly speculated, Valencia star player Juan Mata was tipped with a move to Arsenal but talks surrounding the switch have quietened. With Aaron Ramsey looking in good touch though I feel a player such as Mata would be just sufficient to cover the loss of Nasri and Fabregas, especially with the likes of Miyaichi and Oxlade-Chamberlain now in the fray. What do you think? Do you feel we need more players than Mata? Leave a comment below!
