With Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger experiencing the greatest pressure in his long career with the gunners, he has publicly stated that he will add much needed experience to the squad.
There is no doubt there is some disarray in the squad and this was sorely evident with the line-up against Liverpool. The gunner’s had two players making their Premier League debuts (Miquel and Jenkinson), two players who are ready to leave the Emirates (Bendtner and Nasri) and one very inexperienced but incredible prospect who was red-carded (Frimpong).
Following the 0-2 loss to Liverpool, Wenger himself admitted that the team looked “a bit young” and “naive” and with Fabio Capello and George Graham backing the need for world-class players, it seems the message has finally hit home.
On the remaining days in the transfer window Wenger said: “We are never afraid to take a gamble, what you forget is we have bought players. We have bought Gervinho, Chamberlain, Jenkinson, Miyaichi and you will see during the season they are top-quality players. But at the moment we have to give them some time.
‘We will buy. People feel I’m stubborn, I’m not, I just want to do the best for the team and to buy the right players. If I have shown one thing in the last 15 years, it’s that I have brought good players here. We will bring experienced players. But people just say ‘buy’ but it’s to buy the right player which is difficult.”
There is definitely opportunity to bring in at least one player, either Baines or Jagielka, from Everton due to their current financial situation with reports suggesting Arsene is ready to make an improved bid for Jagielka. It has also been reported that Arsene has placed significant bids for Belgian maestro Eden Hazard and French international Yann M’Vila, although this is highly speculative. He has the funds to make it happen so hopefully we will be able to bring more concrete news on these potential transfers as they come to light! Buuuuut I have to be honest and say I wouldn’t hold my breath, but there is always some hope!
