After being rumoured that Wenger had an attempt to sign the winger last summer, it is being reported that the Frenchman is keen to keep the Belgian as his highest priority transfer target.
But in a blow that is set to frustrate Arsenal fans, it has been rumoured in the Daily Mirror that Arsenal will now have to face-up to Real Madrid to try and get the attacking midfielder’s signature.
Madrid’s director of football, the legendary Zinedine Zidane, has also apparently put the highly-rated youngster high-up on his transfer target list with it believed that he tried to convince Lille not to hear any of Arsenal’s interest due to Real’s interest.
The reported interest from Real Madrid obviously puts the move to Arsenal well in doubt in the future. While it is all merely rumours at this point, the Belgian is surely good enough to spark interest from the Spanish giants, but hopefully Wenger and the board can pull out some sort of magic to try and contest them for the midfield maestro.
