The upcoming clash against Dortmund in the opening round of the Champions League will prove to be a tough task for the newly formed Arsenal team and it seems some Dortmund players have already been trying mind games with up-and-coming Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny in order to get an edge.
While on international duty Szczesny has revealed that Poland team-mates Lukasz Piszczek, Robert Lewandowski and Jakub Blaszczkowski, who are in the Borussia Dortmund squad, dished out some stick following the heavy 8-2 defeat at Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago.
Although while the ploy is obviously to get in the young keepers head before the Champions League clash, after Arsenal’s victory at Swansea the Pole is hoping that he will have the last laugh.
Regarding the banter with the Dortmund trio Szczesny told the Sun:
There has been a little bit, I’m not going to lie. I think two of them will be playing on Tuesday and the one who was the loudest, Jakub, will be on the bench.
They’ve been taking the mickey out of the 8-2 defeat but they can’t get into my head. I will be focused. I hope after the game I will be the one who comes out on top with the banter.
Besides conceding the eight goals (which he can’t really be blamed for), Szczesny has been in hot form following up his EA Sports Player of the Month award with an amazing reflex save against Swansea at the weekend and an all-round solid performance. Hopefully he will produce more of the same if needed against the current German champions!
