Just a day or two ago the coach lauded Reus as one of the best players he has ever trained and the German seems to be living up to this reputation already scoring seven goals in the Bundesliga this season.
Favre told Bild about his contact with Wenger on Reus:
Yes, Jens Lehmann gave him a tip to watch Marco. Then Arsene called me.
I know Arsene very well and told him the truth: Marco is a very, very interesting player. But I am coach of Borussia and want to keep him.
I think that it might be too early for a change. It would be good for Marco if he stays here for a year or two – and who knows, maybe he will also play at the top?
Marco has incredible qualities, but he can also improve in some ways. We are working every day. He needs a foundation to improve his game and he has it here with Borussia.
With Reus revealing that in his young days he was always a fan of Arsenal, there could be a chance for Arsene to work his magic on the talented midfielder. Reus predominantly plays on the wing and is also able to spearhead attack. The German’s contract is set to expire in 2015, but his deal reportedly has a buyout clause of £15.4m, which is to come into effect in the summer of next year. What do you guys think? A worthy buy for the gunners or should we look elsewhere?
