Borussia Dortmund’s Gotze is set to be hot property ahead of the January transfer window, and with the Gunners known admirers after sending two of their senior scouts to watch Dortmund in action on the weekend, many expected Wenger to make his move in January.
The Frenchman has been quick to squash any rumours of any transfer spending this January as he believes the Gunners squad is strong enough and there is enough depth to challenge on all fronts.
At the moment in the transfer window we are just interested in keeping our squad. We have a big squad and we are not after anybody.
Goetze is a very good player, I can understand there is a lot of interest in him around Europe.
On our side though, I do not think this is the best time to talk about it.
We play against Dortmund tomorrow and we must concentrate on the game, not transfers.
With Diaby now returning to action and Wilshere set for a comeback in the new year, the Gunners midfield is looking very strong.
