The 19-year-old Dortmund creative midfielder has been heavily discussed in recent months, especially after Wenger launched a summer bid that was swiftly denied by the German champions.
The German international youngster played at The Emirates on Wednesday night for the important Champions League clash that saw Arsenal top their group, and the Daily Star Sunday has reported that Gotze was very impressed with the Arsenal set up and would consider a move in the future.
The paper quotes a source close to the player who said:
He likes the way Arsenal play the game and for him there are only two clubs where he’d like to play once he moves from Dortmund – Arsenal or Barcelona.
The word that worries me is ‘Barcelona’. But surely with the Barcelona absolutely stocked to the brim of outstanding attacking midfielders they won’t splash out on Gotze too? Gotze is unlikely to leave Dortmund until at least next summer, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up of a January move despite the German champions inevitable departure from the Champions League.
If the move does eventuate it will smash the clubs transfer record as he is rumoured to be worth around the £30m mark. It will be money well spent for a player that can push the Gunners to the next level.
