Arsenal target and Lille midfielder Eden Hazard has revealed his desire to move abroad at the end of the season, which will begin a tug of war match among the biggest clubs around Europe, with Hazard rated as one of the hottest talents in European football.
The Belgian international has been linked with a move to Lille’s money-bag rivals Paris St Germain, however he has squashed any rumours of that move by stating he will only leave for abroad. Big spenders Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City and United head the queue to acquire his signature with Arsenal unlikely to be able to afford his high transfer fee with so much competition.
The highly rated 20-year-old Belgium international is contracted to the French club Lille until 2015, but he told L’Equipe:
I feel ready to make it to the next level at a big club. I stayed in Lille this season because there were still things I had to work on, things to prove. But now, I’m ready.
[on a possible switch to PSG] Paris is not for now. Paris is magical, as they say. Of course it attracts me, but for now, no. In France I do not want to build a rival club to Lille. After France, I want to go abroad.
Many believed Hazard to be Wenger’s number one target last summer after already acquiring Gervinho in a well mannered negotiation from Lille, however the deal fell through as the French outfit were not yet ready to depart with their prized asset.
Although I may be biased, Arsenal is the perfect home for Hazard as we have a top manager that develops young talent extremely well, play a beautiful brand of football and have an excellent team that will continue to grow. He will get more opportunities at Arsenal than City, United or in Spain, now we just need fellow Belgian team mate Vermaelen to convince Hazard that North London is his next home.
With both Hazard and Gotze both set to leave their sides to further their careers, who do you think Wenger should gun for? Dortmund apparently rejected an approach from Arsenal last summer and perhaps Gotze could well be the perfect replacement for Fabregas. Who do you prefer? Comment below…
