The youngster had yet another injury set-back after initially being available to make the trip and one wonders when and if he will ever had a prolonged period of fitness.
Arsene said on the situation:
It depends now on Gibbs. He sees a specialist again today [Tuesday] and if something happens there that he has had a real setback then possibly, yes.
It is not a shop, you just take a good opportunity that is on the market when you can. Overall that’s what we are doing at the moment. We are starting to look at players if Gibbs is not back.
On the other hand we have good news on Bacary Sagna because he has started to run again yesterday and today.
Coinciding with Wenger’s statement is a claim by The Mirror that out of favour full-back Wayne Bridge is ready to be released from Manchester City permanently or temporarily with Arsenal interested in signing him on loan.
The former English international has fallen way down the pecking order at City with Mancini even going so far as questioning his motives suggesting he is happy just to pick up his £90,000 pay cheque despite having no match-time.
Personally I am all for getting cover at the full-back position because we obviously need it, but I am not sure if Bridge is the right person to be brought in. But then again it is only as temporary cover. What do you guys think? Would he fit the Arsenal mould or do you think there is someone more suitable out there?
