Congratulations to Gooner4life for his email for allArsenal’s competition: Who do you think Arsenal should buy/sell this winter?
He is one of the three winners, Here is Gooner4life’s entry:
First off, from what I’ve read most of the entries from this competition have totally unrealistic. While I admire their desire for Wenger to spend £100’s millions, it is more realistic to assume that the main activity in the market for the Gunners will be selling and loaning if any at all.
Il start by expressing who realistically we should look to loan or buy this winter and sell off.
Thierry Henry – loan – Henry is a proven legend and still as the aptitude to perform at the highest level. Not only will he add real quality to the dressing room in terms of leadership, but also experience and the opportunity for Van Persie to have an actual striking partner.
His reputation will not be tarnished, and he will have the opportunity to extend his all time Arsenal goal scoring record and could well be the difference to push us into the top four.
Will this happen? I rate it 9/10
Lukaz Podolski – buy – The German international will be a fantastic purchase if the opportunity arises this winter. Mertesacker has been talking to him recently, and hopefully he can be persuaded to head to North London as the Gunners need to more attacking options. But if Henry returns on loan then Podolski will likely not be bought until next summer if ever.
Will this happen? I rate it 6/10
Wayne Bridge – loan – the Manchester City reject could be a good option to strengthen our backs for the rest of the season. Wenger says that he may not need another fullback as Sagna etc are not far off returning, but it is highly likely that they may suffer a setback. Wayne Bridge needs to be brought in ASAP so that he has time to adapt to Arsenal’s style.
Will this happen? I rate it 7.5/10
Chamakh, Squillaci, Almunia & Arshavin – sell all four of these players ASAP. However Arshavin would be the last to sell only if a replacement like Podolski is brought in. There is no need to replace Squillaci and Almunia as Miquel and Mannone are more than able to step up. Chamakh should be sold however it isn’t likely that he will be until the summer as he is away in the Africans Nations Cup until at least the beginning of feb.
I would consider selling Rosicky but he still has something to give at Arsenal and proved that against Wolves. The ONLY way he should be sold is if someone of Gotze or Gourcuff’s calibre is bought.
Thank you and keep up the great work allArsenal.com. Common you Gunners!!
