Arsène Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of the Premier League clash with Aston Villa as reported on Arsenal’s official website. Some bad news unfortunately as Kieran Gibbs has suffered yet another setback in his recovery and will be unavailable for the trip.
There is no suprise that the young Englishman has not recovered on time as he is extremely injury-prone, but the Gunners need him more than ever at this stage with fullbacks Andre Santos, Carl Jenkinson and Bacary Sagna all injured. The makeshift backline for the trip to Aston Villa will likely consist of the three main centrebacks and youngster Miquel after Djourou became the latest casualty.
However there is light at the end of the tunnel as it has also been revealed that injured first choice right back Bacary Sagna is now running, so his rehabilitation is going well. He will most likely return in the new year, and he will be a massive asset to the team once again as he has been sorely missed.
Here is the latest team news:
He is out for tomorrow’s game, he has a mild groin strain. [Three weeks] is what we fear, yes.
Kieran Gibbs has unfortunately had a setback and he is not back yet. It’s very disappointing because we had good hope that he would be back for tomorrow’s game, but he is not available.
Ryo is joining in normal training on Friday, so he is completely back from injury.
He has already practiced today and should be available for next week.
We have good news on Sagna because he has started to run again yesterday and today.
on everybody else:
From Sunday everybody else is available. We have lost Song through suspension and, of course, Djourou through injury.
