The 19-year-old, according to reports in Germany, has travelled to London with his agent Reza Fazeli to undergo a medical with the Gunners.
Playmaker Eisfeld’s contract expires in the summer and Arsenal will have to pay compensation of around £420,000, after the Dortmund U19s star has struggled to break into the first team.
Eisfeld has six goals in 12 games for the Under 19s this season, but his development has been plagued by knee problems (he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in 2009) and he will undergo an extensive medical at the club’s London Colney training ground before signing a long-term contract.
Although Eisfield has been ousted from the first team due to injury and the incredible Mario Gotze as well as various midfield purchases Dortmund have made over the past 12 months, he does not seem like the player we are looking for.
He is extremely cheap, so it seems this is another business ploy from the Arsenal hierarchy, not an answer to the massive playmaker void left by Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. He is a poor mans Gotze, and it is a shame once again the transfer window has not brought us an established star that can drive us forward towards silverware.
