Amidst the drama of Wenger’s late substitution against Manchester United last weekend, a couple of the old guard have hit-out at out of sorts player Andrei Arshavin.
The little Russian has looked disinterested, lacking in work-rate and a player completely shot of confidence in recent times prompting many to push him to the nearest exit.
Gary Neville, a former Manchester United favourite, said:
He looks the most disinterested player in the league, to me. I think he wants to go back to Russia. Well, go back.
The Arsenal fans don’t want him out there. If the captain’s reacting like that, you’ve got problems.
While Arsenal legend Ray Parlour said of the Russian:
He’s not for me.
Arsene Wenger trains with them every day and must see something in him that can affect the team though.
Arshavin looks disinterested in playing. I don’t know if it’s because he doesn’t get enough chances or he’s not getting enough football.
I don’t know what the situation is, but the quicker he moves on, the better for Arsenal, and probably [for] himself.
He’s not playing on a regular basis. He must be frustrated and when he does get his chance he doesn’t really take it.
He comes on and he’s not interested in the game. I wouldn’t have put him on [against United] but I’m not the manager.
It is fair to say that a huge majority of Arsenal fans agree with the two veterans with still plenty of time in the January transfer window for Arshavin to go. Although in saying this Arsene Wenger seems reluctant to let him go. What do you guys think? Time to go? Feel free to leave a comment below!
