The Club legend and all-time record goalscorer started his career on the wing, and similarly to Van Persie, made a successful transition to centre forward.
Wenger still believes the 34-year-old has the capability to play out wide despite loosing his blistering pace that he used to terrorize defences.
He still has the reflexes of a winger. When he is on the left side he can still pass people and deliver. But it demands a lot of physical effort and it is more suited to a player who is between 20 and 30. But he can still do it.
Even physically he had exceptional quality [before], so even if he has dropped a little bit, he is still good. When you are average and drop a little bit you become very average.
[on Van Persie and Henry partnering upfront] They can play together as long as the team is balanced. If it is balanced offensively and defensively then they can.
But we are in a structure with two wingers so it is difficult to find the balance.
While Henry may be able to play out wide, I feel that he is more useful upfront as a ‘super sub’ against a tough Swansea side so he can support Van Persie up front.
As the match progresses Song could be shifted into defence, and Djourou or Squillaci (whoever plays centreback) could be taken off for Henry so Arsenal can then play 4-4-2.
Alternatively he could be brought on for Ramsey and become an attacking midfielder but perhaps play a little higher. What do you think? Feel free to comment below!
