The Gunners almost suffered a 1-nil defeat at home in the same fixture last year, but thankfully a last-grasp penalty from then captain Cesc Fabregas equalized the tie with the Championship club.
Arsenal went on to win the replay 3-1 at Elland Road, but the last thing Wenger wants is another fixture at an already congested stage of the season.
Thierry Henry will make his second debut for the Gunners after securing a loan from New York Red Bulls, while current captain Robin van Persie is on a family break in Dubai enjoying a well earned rest.
We have the experience of last year when we couldn’t beat them at home, so let’s hope we can do it this year.
We just lost a game in the league [at Fulham] which gave us a lot of regrets, so we want to respond quickly with a win. We have a good opportunity because we play at home.
I will play a strong side, a normal side. Maybe one or two will be rested, but apart from that I think we will still have Marouane Chamakh, although Robin van Persie will certainly be rested.
The last few weeks over the festive period have led to some frustrations as the Gunners have lost key point consequently opening more of a gap with the leaders. However, Wenger is taking it one match at a time and will focus only on the FA Cup until the final whistle at the Emirates on Monday night.
Our target is to win the next game and the next game is the FA Cup. For the championship I don’t know more than you.
We are fighting very hard to get in the top four, if we can we can do better. We have just come out of the Christmas period with seven points, but it is not good enough to fight for the championship because we should have made 12.
That is why we cannot get involved in any considerations in the championship at the moment. I feel we have to win our own games and not speak too much.
Wenger is wise not to take the match against Leeds lightly as it will be a tough challenge for a side that is talented and historically is very strong despite their league status.
The return of Henry will hopefully plug the gap that Van Persie has left behind while he rests, and it will be an exciting outing for young Oxlade-Chamberlain who will be wanting to impress in front of the home crowd and push Wenger to select him for upcoming fixtures with the absence of Gervinho to the ANC.
