Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky has revealed that he snubbed big money moves to both China and Russia to stay with the gunners at the Emirates.
The Czech international has experienced an inspiring revival in his career in recent weeks and was duly rewarded by being offered a new contract, which he signed on Monday, as well as securing a regular starting spot.
Rosicky only had half a year remaining on his contract before he officially re-signed and he revealed while exploring options on his future financial incentives were hard to turn a blind eye to.
Rosicky told isport.blesk.cz about the situation:
In both cases, it was financially huge numbers, so that somehow you had to entertain it – it’s not easy. Some days I thought about it, but money is not everything.
I’m glad I’ll be able to continue at Arsenal.
Arsenal let me get to the point where I had just half a year on my contract and could talk to anyone I wanted.
It started to get interesting because I had very lucrative offers. This turned my head a little, but I have to say that Arsenal were my priority.
I have to say that players with the loyalty of Tomas are few and far between these days. The Czech was often on the fringes of the team and had a tough time with injury at the Emirates, but to see him finally fulfilling his potential and secure a starting spot is great to see!
Best of all though is that his is showing great loyalty to a club he loves! Hopefully RVP is thinking along the same lines as the Czech, although admittedly he would be getting offers from much bigger heavyweights in world football.
