Another transfer rumour comes to us from Goal.com saying that Arsenal is a part of a number of top-level clubs that are interested in Chelsea forward Solomon Kalou.
The Ivorian’s contract expires at the conclusion of this season meaning he will be able to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.
As everyone knows Kalou was linked with a move to Arsenal in the January transfer window only for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to deny the media reports.
Goal.com claims that a number of their ‘sources’ have said the Ivorian would like to stay in the Premier League if he doesn’t stay at Chelsea, but seeing him experience somewhat of revival under new manager Roberto Di Matteo a stay at Chelsea is also on the cards.
Looking at our current squad depth, it is touch and go whether we really need another striker/winger in our ranks. It is more a case of freeing up room for any more additional players rather than just going out and recruiting more, which in itself is a hard task considering the wages fringe players are on at the Emirates.
In any case, Kalou seems like the kind of transfer dealing Wenger would undertake considering he is a free transfer and quite a versatile player who can also cover up-front. Although in saying this his reported wage demands of £80,000 back in January when negotiating a new contract with Chelsea would be huge deterrent for Arsenal.

Personally I see no need for him at the Emirates considering who we already have in the squad. These players being Oxlade Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Van Persie, Gervinho, Benayoun, Chamakh as well as possibly Podolski, Campbell and Miyaichi depending on reports and loan dealings.
What do you guys think about Kalou? Would he be a good transfer target for Arsenal considering his contract is set to expire? Or would signing him be a mistake for the Gunners? Feel free to leave a comment below!
