On-loan striker Carlos Vela has admitted that he would be happier remaining in Spain at the end of the season with loan club Real Sociedad, however he will adapt to English football if he is required to return to Arsenal.
The little Mexican has been making headlines recently after netting five goals in six matches for the La Liga side including a well taken brace against Espanyol on Saturday (see video below), and he has expressed his wish to remain in Spain next season after some superb performances recently.
In every game, whether I play well or badly, I am not thinking about what Arsenal think of me. I give all my effort for Real Sociedad.
Afterwards I will talk with them and make a decision. The best thing is for me to enjoy every moment that is left.
From my point of view, from a footballing and lifestyle standpoint it is better to stay in this league. I have a contract with an English team and if I have to return there I will adapt, but if I could stay here I would be happier.
Many Gunner fans are keen to see the end of Vela on Arsenal’s books, but should he really be disregarded if he is finally finding his feet? The 23 year old has always had the potential to succeed with the Gunners as he possess a great deal of skill, fantastic composure in front of goal and pace to threaten any defence.
Vela has made chipping the keeper a trademark of his, which further emphasizes the finesse the young man possess but he has failed to live up to the physicality of English football it seems. But despite that he has already made a name for himself in Arsenal’s goal repertoire when he netted one of the Arsenal’s 50 greatest goals (voted 29th in 2009) on his full debut in 2008 where he scored a hattrick in a 6–0 win over Sheffield United.
So should the talented Mexican be sold or kept next season? Personally I think he should be brought back in for the preseason tour to see how he adapts and matches up against the rest of the squad and if Wenger is convinced that he can play a part in the first team squad next season then certainly he should remain an Arsenal man, otherwise he should be sold.
What are your thoughts? He can be more of an asset then Arshavin that’s for sure..
