The former Arsenal midfielder copped his fair share of booing in the high-profile clash and was eventually hooked from the game midway through the second half after producing a relatively ineffective performance.
The Gunners went on to win the tie 1-0 courtesy of a super-strike by Mikel Arteta and no doubt Gunners fans will consider it sweet revenge that it was Arsenal that killed off City’s title hopes.
Nasri left the Emirates for the Etihad at the start of this season claiming that he would be able to win more titles and silverware with mega-rich Manchester City, although now it seems at the end of the season he will have none.
After the win Piers Morgan soon took to Twitter saying to Nasri:
Just wondered how that trophy cabinet’s coming along?
Nasri replied tweeting:
I’m aware what I said about titles. I’m sure I will lift a trophy with Man City before AFC.
And to all the Arsenal fans, move on. City are 10 points ahead of you. Just support your team and forget about me.
Morgan then proceeded to challenge Nasri to a £10,000 charity bet on who would get silverware first, which the Frenchman confidently accepted. The bet should prove to be an interesting wager. City seem to lack the necessary experience and team cohesion money simply can’t buy, while Arsenal have been in what seems like a consistent transition phase for the passed few seasons although look close to finally becoming a complete team.
