The Daily Mail have reported Gunners starlet Jack Wilshere is set to make his long awaited return to full training with the Arsenal first team this week after spending over a year on the sidelines.
The 20-year-old made a huge contribution during his debut season in 2010/11 but had to sit out the entire last term after sustaining an ankle stress fracture in preseason, before it reoccurred toward the end of last year and then he suffered further knee issues after returning to light training earlier in 2012.
But the England international has worked hard in the gym and his rehab is almost finally complete as he looks set to join his team mates in full training this week.
Arsene Wenger confirmed this last week stating he is ‘not far away’, with Sagna and Frimpong close behind and Rosicky the least likely long-term absentee to join for at least another 2 weeks, meaning Wilshere will be the first to return this week.
The reports are suggesting the England international will join in toward the latter part of the week and feature in either a specially arranged training ground friendly or the Gunners Under-21 side’s fixture against West Bromwich on October 1 or Reading a week later.

His return will be very welcome, but Wenger will continue to ease his prodigy back into action, and matches with the U21 team will be a good way to go. There is no rush for him to return with Diaby in form and likely to be fit for the Montpellier fixture this week, and Francis Coquelin having a fine match against Southampton.
That is not including Aaron Ramsey who looked good on the weekend, so there is little wonder why Wenger opted not to reinforce the midfield further after Songs departure. So I wouldn’t be surprised if we do not see Wilshere on the first team sheet until mid-October at least.
When the time comes how do you think he will fit into the squad with Diaby, Cazorla and Arteta looking like an established trio? I think Arteta and Cazorla would be the first choice duo with Diaby and Wilshere rotating between matches depending upon the opponent as they both offer a range of options in terms of height and power versus agility and speed.
