While it has become common knowledge that Rubin Kazan remain favourites to sign Frenchman Yann M’Vila, general manager Pierre Dreossi has revealed that a new offer has bee submitted by an English club.
M’Vila has been heavily linked with Arsenal since the summer and has been tipped as the solution to our shortcomings in defensive midfield.
However, no matter how much the speculation has grown no move has eventuated for M’Vila with his off-field antics the most likely deterrent for prospective employers.
Dreossi is quoted as saying by Sky Sport News:
It is complicated, but we are still in negotiations.
It is not agreed yet, there are delays in payment, everything. I hope we will find a solution.
Also a new offer came in England and that could be interesting but Rubin Kazan is the priority, and we are negotiating.
I expect the player to tell me he has reached an agreement with the club so we can finish the negotiations.
QPR? I met with them for a long time [on Monday] but I think they will withdraw and I have not heard from them since.
The new English club? This is not Newcastle – but no matter, M’Vila will leave and it will be finished before Saturday’s game.”
No matter what club he moves to, it seems relatively certain that the Frenchman will be leaving Rennes before the weekend, but whether Arsenal have tried to hijack the deal is merely speculation at this stage.
It does make one ponder when you factor in Arsene has admitted there are problems in defensive midfield and saying he is looking to sign two new players this January. But I am not holding my breath at this stage.
What do you guys think? Are Arsenal trying to hijack the deal or will it be yet another disappointing January window? Feel free to leave a comment below!
