According to The Daily Mail, Barcelona have offered Arsenal target David Villa a new contract to stay at the Nou Camp next season.
Spain’s all time top goalscorer has only 14 months left on his current deal which has alerted several clubs including Arsene Wengers side who tried to bring him in during the January transfer window and is expected to re-approach the Catalan giants this summer.
But if the striker signs a new deal it will take a substantial fee to lure the 31-year-old away from Spain, something that may not be worth the investment compared to buying Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic, who is being regularly scouted by the Gunners and is 23-years-old.
Villa’s main motivation to leave Barcelona has always been a lack of playing time for the star studded side. But game time is slightly becoming more of a regularity for the Spaniard who netted the important third goal against AC Milan in the Champions League last week.
However, if Villa wants to become an integral member of a Club again it may be wise to refuse the new contract and sign, with Valdez, for the Gunners.
