According to widespread reports, Arsenal have agreed terms with Fiorentina’s star striker Stevan Jovetic ahead of a proposed summer move to the Emirates.
Arsene Wenger is in desperate need of attacking reinforcements ahead of next season with the Montenegro striker topping the list, and he has reportedly agreed a £100,000 a week four-year-deal with the North London side. It will still take an Arsenal-record-breaking £24m offer to prize him from Fiorentina, but the Italian side are apparently ‘seriously considering’ the offer on the table.
The 23-year-old has scored a respectable 12 goals in 25 appearances for the Viola this campaign, but it is his age that is of the most interest as he will be a player to develop under the tutorship of Arsene Wenger.
Lukas Podolski was secured early last year ahead of the transfer window opening, and it seems the Gunners are eager to secure another top name quickly and swat off interest from the likes of Manchester City.
While there are no official reports, the news/rumour has spread far and wide which adds slightly to it’s crediability, however for now it remains just a rumour. But it is looking promising that there will be investment into the squad this summer with limited or no fan-favourite exits this transfer window.
Jovetic may not have scored four goals against Madrid this week, but he is a top transfer target who could do interesting things with Arsenal. While many Gooners will be calling for the acquisition of Lewandowski, unfortunately the reality is we are unable to finance or even lure such a star striker at present. He will be off to Bayern this summer.
