The Frenchman has been under increasing speculation that he is nearing the end of his tenure at Arsenal with the Gunners’ trophy drought getting ever increasing.
The main priority has yet again been a top-four finish this season with everyone hopeful that world-class recruits will be coming into the squad in the summer, particularly after the lucrative kit deal with Puma.
Wenger is quoted as saying by Goal.com:
I have had no contact with PSG. Carlo Ancelotti has done a good job and I do not see why he would leave the club by viewing the quality of his work this season.
I followed their season. They have built their success on a form of individual superiority and the collective one that they found through the Champions League. In Ligue 1, they had a quite difficult journey.
And for my part, I have a contract with Arsenal, where I have served for 17 years and I do not see myself leaving the club like a thief and not respecting my contract.
His last statement is certainly interesting and certainly feels as though he is referring to some previous players in the past that have abandoned the club.
In saying this however, when you look at the past, Wenger has made similar statements about players not leaving where Gooners are then baffled to see them leave shortly after.
It will certainly be interesting to see if he follows the trend of those players who have left or stays true to his word. What do you guys think? Feel free to leave a comment below!
