Recent reports had also suggested that Arsenal had already agreed personal terms with the striker, with the Gunners just needing to agree on a transfer fee with Real Madrid.
However, his father has now revealed that no personal terms have been agreed saying that the transfer must first be agreed between the clubs.
Jorge Higuain is quoted as saying on the progress of his son’s transfer to Arsenal by Sky Sports News:
Nothing has been signed yet but I can assure you there are advanced talks between the clubs.
We wouldn’t arrange any personal contract before the clubs agree for the transfer. I’m aware Arsenal has made a strong offer, as well as Juventus.
While no personal terms have been agreed, the revelation that Higuain is in advanced talks with the Gunners makes for good reading ahead of the summer transfer window, paticularly with Higuain senior saying Arsenal have put in a ‘strong offer’
Personally, I feel securing Higuain finally represents the statement of intent Arsenal fans having been waiting far too long for. No being ‘prudent’ in the marketplace, no looking for ‘potential’, just big cash on a big player.
If Arsenal were to also secure the signature of Marouane Fellaini, it would be a huge step in the right direction for the Gunners next term. Hopefully there are exciting things ahead!!
