Yesterday we posed the question: Who should be Arsenal’s top summer transfer target? An overwhelming trend on the article, Facebook comments and recent transfer rumour articles suggests a huge number of Gooners do not want to see Luis Suarez in an Arsenal shirt.
The canabalistic centre forward has been in a ton of trouble since his move from Ajax in 2011 and begs the question – is he really the type of controversial player we want to lead the frontline? We may not have a choice if any of the recent Suarez to Arsenal reports are to go by, and the odds are 8/11 – you can see sport betting information and more at Betfair.com. Betting on the transfer market seems to be very popular at the moment, before the season begins again.
His lack of loyalty towards Liverpool is a real worry, the Kop have stood behind the troubled forward throughout his racial abuse and biting fiasco’s yet he could depart after just over two years on Merseyside. He potentially could succeed with Arsenal and then seek a transfer to Madrid over the next year or two, it seems there is only a single agenda on his mind and that’s getting to the top.
Here are a list of his ‘crimes’ over his senior career as collected by James Lawton of the Independent:
Feb 2007: Sent off on his Uruguay debut against Colombia after receiving a second booking.
Nov 2007: Suspended following dressing-room altercation with team-mate while at Ajax.
July 2010: Dismissed for handball against Ghana in World Cup quarter-final before celebrating Asamoah Gyan’s subsequent miss from penalty spot.
Nov 2010: Handed seven-game ban after biting PSV’s Otman Bakkal on the shoulder.
Oct 2011: Racially abuses Manchester United’s Patrice Evra during league match at Anfield. Fined £40,000 and banned for eight games in December by the Football Association.
Dec 2011: Makes offensive gesture towards Fulham supporters, resulting in a one-match ban.
Feb 2012: Refuses to shake Evra’s hand in return match at Old Trafford.
Oct 2012: Celebrates goal at Everton with diving motion in front of home dugout. Admits exaggerating dive in match with Stoke.
Jan 2013: Handles ball in act of scoring during Cup tie at Mansfield.
Mar 2013: Strikes Chile defender Gonzalo Jara in World Cup qualifier.
Apr 2013: Suspended for 10 matches by the Football Association after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic at Anfield.
Despite all the behavioral issues he is extremely skillful and can score goals – exactly what the Gunners need. Personally I’m not sure if he is the perfect player for us, Higuain represented a much better deal but now he’s gone to Napoli.
Rooney remains a slight possibility, and I would potentially prefer Shrek over his buck-teeth counterpart. What are your thoughts Gooners? Comment below..
