Luis Suarez to Arsenal saga appears to have taken another twist today with speculation intensifying that the striker is close to securing a move to north London, according to the reports in Metro.
Suarez’s future has been dominating the back pages over the last few months after he openly admitted that he wanted to leave Liverpool and also leave England, however, it now appears that he could be on the verge of signing for Arsenal.
The report claims that, According to South American journalist Martin Charquero the 26-year-old is now ‘very close’ to securing a sensational move to Arsenal, using his official Twitter account to confirm the news on Monday evening.
Charquero tweeted: “Luis Suarez is very close to Arsenal”.
The Metro claim Chaquero is close to Suarez and has held a series of interviews with the player in recent months, including one earlier in the summer where Suarez revealed he wanted to leave Anfield, so it certainly seems he could have an inside track on this proposed transfer.
Wenger has already had a £30m bid rejected by the Anfield club for Suarez, but it has been suggested that the Frenchman is ready to bid up to £40m in order to sign the striker.
Following Arsenal’s opening bid for his services Luis Suarez’s agent made specific mention of his client’s desire to play Champions League football as a key factor in his decision to so publicly execute a departure from the Merseyside club he joined back in January 2011.
A £40million bid will trigger a release clause and Liverpool have conceded they would have to listen. The bid would represent a hugely decisive move from the Gunners hierarchy as they look to land one of their three main targets.
Suarez netted 30 goals in all competitions last season and will be suspended for six matches at the start of the season as he sees out the ten match ban he received after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Suarez is a player whose is at the peak of his powers and is certainly one of the best striker in the Premier League and in world football. He is just the caliber of striker Arsenal needed after the departure of Van Persie.
He is really the complete package good with both feet, comfortable with his head, lethal from set pieces, very skillful and most importantly, will easily fit into the free flowing football ethos that has been enshrined at Arsenal by Wenger.
Suarez has had a highly controversial time in England, with the Patrice Evra racial abuse case and then the biting incident involving Branislav Ivanovic, and these events have smeared his reputation in the country.
It is now looking likely that the deal might actually happen if Arsenal meet his £40m valuation and with Suarez also suggesting he want leave it looks like Arsenal fans will finally get their wish of seeing big name signing.
