Wenger’s contract at the Emirates runs out next summer, leading to speculation of a future move to PSG, despite their appointment of Laurent Blanc as boss on a two-year deal.
But Wenger insists his intention is to extend his £7.5million-a-season contract, and preliminary discussions with chief executive Ivan Gazidis are underway.
According to Daily Mail ,he said :
The link with PSG is there because I’m French and I know the owners. But if that was the case then I would be there already.
My heart is with Arsenal. I’m not at PSG because my heart is with Arsenal.
I am committed to staying longer at this club. I’ve already had a chat with Ivan. It went very well, not a problem.
What I will always do in the future is not to use my longevity (at this club) as an advantage to stay in this position if I don’t do well.
The contract will be decided in the future. That will depend on how well I do. I’ve always shown my commitment to this club and I don’t think I need to prove anything on that.
We are coming out of that period and I hope in the next two or three years the club will be competing for the Premier League.
Arsene who is fondly called “Le Professeur” a nickname which is used to reflect his studious demeanour, Wenger’s approach to the game emphasises an attacking mentality.Arsenal Under the regin of Wenger won its last major trophy in 2005 when they defeated United in the FA Cup penalty shoot out and since then have not smelt any other trophy.
Let’s be fair – Wenger has not exactly had bags of cash available to spend in recent seasons. The Gunners have had a (mightily impressive) stadium to pay for and that has been the reason behind missing out on a string of targets.
The fact he ended up with the likes of Marouane Chamakh, Andre Santos and Sebastien Squillaci is not exactly his fault he was just a manager shopping within his range.
Next season is a huge one for Wenger. It’s probably the biggest opportunity he has to prove he’s still got it, and to prove that the new core he is developing at Arsenal are good enough. To be fair to him, who knew Koscielny would start to look like one of the better centre-backs in the league?.
Arsene Wenger needs a new striker, central midfielder and a centre back preferably someone who doesn’t need two to three years of development. But, at least in Wenger, Arsenal have someone they know, and who believes in their club. He is Arsenal, for better or for worse.
In Arsene do you believe?
