Theo Walcott has called for his side to begin this upcoming campaign how they finished last season and add a sense of fear to the Emirates.
The 24-year-old has been with the Gunners for seven years now including one year at Highbury, and is yet to lift a trophy under Arsene Wenger.
Walcott believes Arsenal need to re-inject the fear factor that their past prestigious ground held and begin the season with a bang next month.
The Gunners ended the past campaign with a special 10 game unbeaten run to secure the final Champions League qualification spot, however Walcott is left wishing what could have been if they had managed to show more consistency from the get-go.
The England international told Sky Sports:
It is quite frustrating at times, because we should have done that at the start of the season. Who knows where we would have been.
We need to remember those moments that we had and make sure we do it from the start, because we could be challenging for anything. We could beat anyone.
We want that sort of fear factor, especially at the Emirates.
The Gunners certainly need to begin the season strongly instead of a final dash at the end. Home form will be key to firing up the fans and gaining confidence as a team. Last season the Emirates witnessed quite a number of disappointments and we certainly do not need a repeat of the FA Cup exit to Blackburn, the Bayern beating or the losses to City or Swansea in the League – all uninspiring home losses.
To create a sense of fear we need to have a strong side that will scare opponents when they look at the team sheet – so we need a couple of big name signings. Common Wenger! Why not wrap up some deals ASAP and get the players on tour for preseason? Higuain is available and Fellaini has a release cause. We have the cash, spend it already!
