Arsenal will offer Luis Suarez a contract that will make him the best paid player in the history of the club if they sign him from Liverpool this summer, according to reports in Metro.
It is believed that Arsenal are ready to make the Uruguayan their highest paid player offering £160,000 weekly compared to the £120,000 weekly he earns at Liverpool. Arsenal will also offer Suarez a big signing on fee and expect movement on a move to sign the Liverpool man in the next few days.
The offer eclipses the earnings of Arsenal’s current top earners comfortably, Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski both on £100 k a week deals.
However the personal terms don’t appear to be the issue as Liverpool are standing firm and sticking to the story that their main man is not for sale.
Arsene Wenger has made signing Luis Suarez his number summer transfer target even though Liverpool has so far turned down 2 bids with the latter being a club record bid of £40 million plus £1 in an effort to sign him.
Reports also claim Arsenal are set to make another bid in the coming week of £45 Million for the Uruguayan which they are confident will see Liverpool allow the wantaway striker to finally make the switch from Anfield to the Emirates stadium.
Suarez has pleaded with Liverpool to let him leave after claiming they have broken his contract by not accepting a bid from Arsenal, although the future of the Uruguay international remains uncertain. Brendan Rodgers is adamant that the player will not be leaving however, and has demanded an apology from the 26-year-old for his disrespectful behavior.
Arsenal are also reportedly monitoring the Wayne Rooney situation at Manchester United with the hope of hijacking Chelsea’s move should they fail in their attempt to acquire Luis Suarez.
While Suarez would unquestionably help Arsenal on the pitch by virtue of his goal-scoring prowess, it is very debatable whether or not he is worth what the Gunners are ready to offer. The main concern regarding Suarez is his attitude, as he has gotten himself into trouble on the pitch by making poor decisions.
At this point, Arsenal clearly realizes that many of their closest competitors in the Premier league are getting better, so they need to do something in order to keep pace. Suarez is the biggest fish that could potentially be reeled in, and the Gunners are pulling out all the stops. Even so, it seems as though they may miss out on their intended target.
Suarez is just the type of big name player that Arsenal need and many will be hoping that a deal can be done. What do you think Gooners?
