The gunners suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Aston Villa on the opening day after loosing 3-1 at the Emirates. Olivier Giroud opened the scoring in the sixth minute but the visitors responded with braces from Christian Benteke and Antonio Luna.
Wilshere agreed that it was a disappointing start to the season but asked the fans to stick with them for what would be a vital week for Arsenal with Champions League play off coming up.
According to Arsenal official website, he said :
It is understandable. People pay their money and we have to put in a better performance in order to win games. We want to win trophies so the message is – stick with us, it is a long season.
Villa are a tough team but we are not happy with our performance. We have to look at ourselves and pick ourselves up for the [Champions League] qualifier in the week.
When queried about Koscienly’s tackle which led to a penalty kick, he said :
From my perspective it was a good tackle. He got the ball. But the referee is the one with the whistle and he has to make the big decision. I am sure they will even themselves out over the season.
Of course the red card did not help. At 2-1 we were still in the game but then we gave away a cheap goal.

We felt good going into today and we started well but we dropped the level when w-e should have maintained it.
Still, it is a long season and we will have to go again now.
Arsene Wenger failed to make any high-profile signings this summer, with young French striker Yaya Sanogo the only new arrival that too on a free transfer. The Gunners have seen two bids rejected for unsettled Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, and have missed out on other targets including Gonzalo Higuain and Luiz Gustavo.
Wilshere is right in saying that fans should stick with the team in these tough times especially with Champions League play off coming next but you can’t blame the fans because they have waited too long, 8 years to be exact. But all the fans get are the same old broken promises from the club.
I don’t see any logic on how our club operates, they claim they have £70 million war chest and with 2 weeks remaining in the transfer window they don’t even spend a penny even though they know the current squad isn’t enough to compete at the highest level.
We really must spend now. But still we have 2 weeks to make a menace, so i would rather wait until September 2nd and then comment on whether we will competing for Champions League or Europa League next season.
