Julian Draxler has declared that he is prepared to leave Schalke if his current club accept a bid over the next couple of days.
Arsenal have been recently linked with the exciting 19-year-old attacking midfielder despite the extortionate £40m+ price tag the Bundesliga outfit have slapped on the starlet. Wenger will now have received a boost in their quest to strengthen if they do wish to pursue the German international, as the midfielder concedes his club may have to settle for a lesser price tag in which he will be prepared to leave.
But despite his willingness to leave, he feels it will take something ‘extraordinary’ to prize him away from Schalke over the next day or so especially with Arsenal yet to formally submit an offer.
Goal.com reported Draxler as saying:
I don’t mind people speculating, I’ll let them have their fun. If nothing extraordinary happens, I will be here on Monday.
But Schalke could change their mind and say ‘Well, 40 or 30 million euros is not so bad,’ and then I can’t do much about it.
If the club absolutely wants to sell me, I will not say ‘No, I want to stay.’
Wenger’s attentions are solely on the North London Derby at present but after today’s fixture it will be all go for the Frenchman as he looks to finally BUY a player this summer. Draxler is an expensive star but an exciting one that would be a useful asset to the Gunners and bolster their attacking options. They will struggle to secure a quality striker so the next best option could be to ‘do a Chelsea’ and stack the midfield to make up for Arsenal’s lack of depth up front.
It will take a record breaking bid to secure Draxler but it better happen. Something better happen.
