The German has been outstanding at Real Madrid and seemed like a key component in a team filled with superstars. Particularly when you factor in that the German played more key passes (78) than Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Busquets combined (75).
But, to the contrary, Arsene Wenger has definitely given Arsenal fans a huge surprise by securing a player who is easily one of the most talented playmakers in Europe, if not the world.
Reports suggest the fee paid for Ozil is in the region of £42.5m and I would say it will be worth every penny if the German plays to the level he did at Real Madrid. It has been confirmed he will wear the number 11 shirt.
Although Ozil is not the type of player Arsenal particularly need, his world-class ability will no doubt still be a huge asset to the team.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Arsene will utilise Ozil in combination with our other midfield players and will also be interesting to see whether our defence and attack can keep up with what can easily be considered a title-winning midfield.
I cannot wait to see him in an Arsenal shirt!
NB. Special mention must go to the Spuds, without whom none of this would have been possible. It says a lot when the Real Madrid fans chant ‘Don’t sell Ozil’ at Gareth Bale’s unveiling! #OzilIsAGunner
