According to Sky Sports the Gunners are set to sign Bristol Rovers starlet goalkeeper Matt Macey after a successful trial in north London.
The 18-year-old had been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Everton recently after his club confirmed negotiations were underway with the Premier League sides last month.
Macey underwent a trail with the Gunners last month and appeared to impress sufficient enough to warrant a deal at the current Premier League leaders. The towering 6ft 6in shot stopper will most likely slot into the reserve setup after a positive performance against West Brom in the Arsenal U21 side.
According to the report, the Englishman is expected to sign a three-year deal with Bristol Rovers likely to receive compensation for training and teaching the youngster.
As expected at his age, he has limited experience with top level football with Macey yet to play a senior, professional match. He has managed to make the bench albeit as an unused substitute for Rovers against Torquay in March 2012.
Another one for the future it seems. England need a quality, consistent ‘keeper so why not develop one at Arsenal? Do you think Macey can be the new David Seaman? Man I miss that guys mustache..
