A team missing some of our big hitters was undone by a Chelsea team demonstrating their strength in depth. 2-0 Chelsea, Arsenal out of the Cup. Here are the player ratings:
- Alexis Sanchez Turns Down £400,000/Week Contract Offer From China
- Wenger Claims Ozil Is In The Best Form Of His Arsenal Career
- Nabil Fekir Names Arsenal As One Of The 5 Clubs He’d Like To Join
Lukasz Fabianski | 7.5: Wasn’t really at fault for either of the goals, saved everything else that he was asked to.
Carl Jenkinson | 6.0: Seemed to lack confidence, was directly responsible for the first goal and indirectly responsible for the second. Didn’t stop trying throughout the game which is nice to see in a player, but things weren’t going right for him tonight.
Laurent Koscielny | 7.5: Was fantastic in defence tonight, and tried to get us going forward with some driving runs too. Made a vital interception off the line.
Thomas Vermaelen | 7.0: Looked solid in general, good to see he’s not letting his lack of game time affect him too much.
Nacho Monreal | 7.5: Was superb going forward, did his job defensively, but Azpilicueta was getting forward a lot and causing him problems with his pace.
Aaron Ramsey | 7.0: Was pretty quiet in the first half, became a lot more active in the second. Showed some good defensive qualities in place of the absent Flamini and Arteta, and got into some decent shooting positions.
Jack Wilshere | 7.0: You could see he was really trying to get things going for us, pushing forward with the ball more than anyone. But the final ball wasn’t quite right tonigh.
Thomas Rosicky | 7.0: Good work rate, and was getting involved in every move. Nothing spectacular though.
Santi Cazorla | 8.0: Was tireless, really trying to make things happen. Showed great skill on many occasions and looked our most threatening player.
Ryo Miyaichi | 6.75: Was fantastic in the opening 30 minutes, seemed to tail off a bit after that. I was surprised at his tracking back on occasions, but wasn’t as threatening as he should have been with his pace.
Nicklas Bendtner | 5.5: Just like Ryo, his opening few minutes looked positive, in both halfs. But his overall game was lazy and lacklustre, if the ball wasn’t dropping right on top of him, he didn’t challenge for it. Really needs to step it up.
Mesut Özil | 7.0: With Chelsea sitting back after going 2-0 up, he didn’t have much space to play.
Olivier Giroud | 7.0: Was a massive improvement on Bendtner, but didn’t have enough time to really impact the game.
Park Chu Young | N/A: Only saw him when he was initially subbed on.
