Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Bacary Sagna could all mark their returns this weekend against Norwich City, meaning some Arsenal stars could miss out.
As the great Flamini vs Arteta/Flamini & Arteta debate, Wilshere’s somewhat erratic form and Ramsey’s goal scoring exploits continue, Wenger has quite a task ahead of him selecting his best XI.
Ozil should be fine to start after his initial injury scare on duty with Germany, while Koscielny and Ramsey recovered from their early knocks to take to their respective fields on Tuesday night.
The team news is due out later today which will firm up the likely starting lineup, but here is our stab at a potential XI involving the potentially fit again wingers:
Sagna Koscielny Mertesacker (c) Gibbs
Plenty to debate with the lineup in terms of Arteta and Wilshere relegated to the bench, but really it seems the most logical scenario IF Theo and Santi are ready to return.
Flamini has been excellent this season and is un-droppable, he provides a gritty shield for our defence, barks orders and is not afraid to get his hands dirty. When partnered with Arteta, the Frenchman was often found in the attacking third which is definitely not his strength, whereas if he’s partnered with the in-form Ramsey his primary objective is to sit.
Flamini also has four yellows already, one more and he is suspended. It is probably best if he receives one this week and misses the Palace match – a cheeky, tactical yellow perhaps?
If both Cazorla and Walcott are fit to start then they automatic selections, Wenger desperately needs some natural wingers available which was evident more than ever after their draw with West Brom. For some reason the Arsenal boss has seemed reluctant to utilize Gnabry recently, but he should be called upon if either of the aforementioned duo are unavailable.
