Santi Cazorla has hailed summer signing Mesut Ozil as a player of a different kind, going as far to say he is capable of defining an era.
The Spaniard recently regained fitness and has so far enjoyed linking up with his fellow attacking midfielder. The creative duo share a similar playing style and Cazorla feels they are developing an understanding quickly that will only become stronger over time.
The likes of Zidane and Ronaldinho have marked past footballing years as their own, and while we live in the Messi-Ronaldo era, Cazorla believes Ozil is the caliber of player to define his own.
Speaking to Arsenal Player, the Spanish international said:
We have got to know each other and I have to say that it is very easy to have a good understanding with a great player like him, since our playing philosophy is very similar.
As the days go by we have a better association on the pitch. Personally I am very happy to have Mesut as a team-mate. He is a great signing and everyone enjoys the way he plays.
Mesut is a player of a different kind. He is a joy to watch and has a lot of talent. Like Zidane or Ronaldinho, he can be one of those players who marks an era.
He is not the kind of player you are used to watching and he can win many games on his own. That’s why he is a top player
There is no doubting Ozil’s potential, especially as he adapts further into life in north London. With the likes of Podolski, Walcott and the Ox returning, the German star will have the opportunity to develop even more threatening relationships with our wingers. This is something we desperately missed against Dortmund.
Ozil has the perfect platform to flourish at Arsenal, under the tutorship of Wenger he can only develop further and will help guide the Gunners to end their wretched silverware drought.
There are exciting times ahead for Arsenal, so don’t get down in the dumps after the Dortmund loss! We can only get stronger as time goes by and players develop more of an understanding and some return from injury.
