Emmanuel Frimpong looks likely to land himself in hot water with manager Arsene Wenger after his latest tweets, after it appears he will be unlikely to play against Chelsea in the Capital One Cup.
The Ghanaian midfielder has been struggling with injuries over his Arsenal career but was tipped to be included against the Blues this week. Wenger confirmed today that Frimpong was short of competition, suggesting he will either be excluded from the team or at most on the bench.
After being asked by a fan on his twitter page whether he would be included in the squad against the Europa League Champions, he responded: ‘LOL I wanna laugh’.
He then went on to post what could be interpreted as a racist comment: ‘Sometimes I wish I was white and English #realtalk’
The two tweets were then removed, with his latest remaining: ‘Not everything is football related Goosh’.
Not quite sure what he’s thinking taking to twitter to voice his concerns over his lack of playing time, especially the ‘white and English’ comments. Maybe he forgot he represented England at youth levels? He has since opted to play for the senior Ghana national team.
The 21-year-old has often landed himself in hot water after his twitter antics, and his latest brain explosion will do little to help his game time. For a youngster who exploded onto the scene with a fantastic combative performance against Liverpool in 2011 (yes he ended up getting sent off, but nevertheless he performed very well), many expected ‘Manny’ to have a bright future at the club.
Persistent injury troubles have since haltered his development and he seems to be ‘Frimponging’ himself and ruining his chances by opening his mouth..on twitter. Get your head straight Frimmy.
He is set to be replaced by Isaac Hayden on Tuesday evening who is not white but English.
