Kieran Gibbs has been rewarded for his excellent form this season with a call-up for the England national squad ahead of their crucial World Cup Qualifiers at Wembley.
Ex-Gunner Ashley Cole has been ruled out for Friday’s match against Montengro and may well be out of their second fixture versus Poland on Tuesday. The defender was substituted with 15 minutes remaining of Chelsea’s 3-1 win away to Norwich.
The English FA have confirmed Gibbs has linked up with Roy Hodgson’s squad and will look to build upon his two senior caps.
The marauding left back will be behind Leighton Baines in the pecking order, but may be called into action should the Everton star sustain an injury.
Good luck to Gibbs, a massive opportunity for the 24-year-old to prove his ability to Hodgson and start to edge his way into the squad.
