Arsenal have been handed an injury boost with the news that Theo Walcott is fit and will be included in this weekends squad for the home fixture against Southampton.
The England international has been out for two months with an abdominal injury but makes a much anticipated return to bolster the Gunners wide options which have been lacking in recent weeks.
Arsene Wenger has revealed Tomas Rosicky will face a late fitness test after the Czech international suffered from the recent flu that swept the squad. His return will also be welcomed.
Lukas Podolski has stepped up his recovery but is still three weeks from returning after his serious hamstring problem.
The Gunners boss also revealed there is no injury to Jack Wilshere as suggested in recent reports, and he refuted any rift with the FA over the handling of his star player.
Wenger revealed the following team news ahead of the Gunners clash with the Saints:
[on Theo Walcott] Theo will be back for Saturday in the squad. He’s completely fit again. He has not played for a long time, of course, he has not played even a reserve team game, but I will put him in the squad on Saturday. Yes [I will use him cautiously].
[on Tomas Rosicky] Tomas was ill, he had one or two [normal] training days, he could be in the squad as well on Saturday. We have a final test on Friday.
[on Lukas Podolski] Podolski is not too far away, I would say three weeks. He is doing fitness training on the pitch. He starts to do some ball work too, he still needs two or three weeks before we see him on the pitch for Arsenal.
[on Ryo] Ryo has a hamstring problem that he got from the Norwich game, he will be out for Saturday.
[on the longer-term injuries] Chamberlain is at least one month, Sanogo is January, Diaby will be March.
[On Jack Wilshere] First of all Jack is not injured, that was not the right information. Secondly, I have no problem with the FA, they respected completely what they told me and it was [for Wilshere] to play in one game and be on the bench in the other. They did that very well. So there is no misunderstanding there. Exactly [they did what we agreed].
Predicted lineup to follow..
