Arsenal v Hull
Barclays Premier League
Kick off: December 04, 2013 7:45 PM BST
A game in which Arsenal finished comfortable winners, but should have put the game to bed far earlier. Three points is three points though. Here are the player ratings:
Wojciech Szczesny | 7.0: Didn’t have a huge amount to do, and we were almost punished when he gifted the ball to Hull with a poor clearance. Another clean sheet for the Pole though.
Carl Jenkinson | 7.0: Didn’t seem to have the same understanding that the rest of the team have, but that will come with game time. His cross for the assist was absolutely fantastic.
Laurent Koscielny | 7.5: Was mopping up all across the back line, sticking tight to Sagbo and Graham when needed. Made one poor pass out of defence which gifted Livermore a chance, but solid overall.
Per Mertesacker | 7.5: Did a job in defence, Koscielny covering for his mobility deficiencies at times. Was picked out from corners several times and got some good flick ons.
Nacho Monreal | 7.25: Didn’t need to spend too much time in Arsenal’s half due to our dominance, he was good going forward, just lacked that final ball.
Mathieu Flamini | 7.5: Gave the back four some good protection, although most of their attacking threat came from the wings rather than through the centre. Commanding presence in midfield.
Aaron Ramsey | 8.0: Set up Özil for his goal, and assisted the assist for the first goal. He was all over the pitch, putting a defensive shift in and looking a constant threat in front of goal. Was unlucky not to score, denied twice by McGregor.
Santi Cazorla | 7.5: Had fantastic feet all night and was linking up superbly with Özil, he was lacking the final ball though. Should have troubled the keeper a couple of times but instead blazed the ball over the bar.
Thomas Rosicky | 7.25: Was lively and showing good movement, always trying to give his team mates another passing option. His own passing wasn’t spot on tonight, but you can’t fault his effort.
Mesut Özil | 8.5: (MotM) Özil was oustanding tonight, taking on players, splitting defences with his passes and getting on the score sheet himself with some good movement and a calm finish. Was surprised he wasn’t given more of a rest, hopefully he can keep up this level of performance for the upcoming fixtures.
Nicklas Bendtner | 7.25: He got himself a goal after just a minute with a good header, and almost supplied a goal late on in the half. He looked decent tonight, but had he been a bit sharper he could have had two or three goals.
Theo Walcott | 6.5: Was pretty anonymous despite being the lone striker when he came on. Didn’t get any balls he could really do anything with, but neither was he making any fantastic runs.
Jack Wilshere | 7.0: Looked lively and up for it when he came on, crafted a couple of chances during his short time on the pitch.
Mikel Arteta | N/A: A cameo appearance, saw the game out.
