The Gunners boss has long been a fan of Suarez and tried numerous times to bring the player to the Emirates in the summer, only to be rebuffed by Brendan Rodgers’ firm stance.
The 26 year old has 17 goals and four assists from his 11 Premier League appearances this season and Wenger admits that he still admires the inform Uruguayan.
According to Goal.com, he said:
He is an angel. He turns into a demon when he is on the pitch. We all dream of having players like that. According to information I had about him, he is beyond reproach away from the pitch.
He has a provocative personality. All the English defenders hate to play against him.
Arsenal attempted to sign Suarez in the summer, and believed they had triggered his release clause when they bid £40 million plus £1, but the amount meant Liverpool only had to inform him of the bid. Suarez himself gave an interview discussing his desperation to play Champions League football, however Liverpool stood their ground and managed to keep him.
Suarez has since served his 10 match ban and is firing on all cylinders with the latest dazzling performance coming against our North London rivals Tottenham, he scored two and assisted the other three. It’s looking increasingly likely that Liverpool will face an uphill battle to keep the Premier League’s top goal scorer past January, as Real Madrid have also openly expressed their interest in him.
He is certainly worth more than what Arsenal offered for him in the summer but many fans are still urging Wenger to go all the way to sign him. However the chances of Arsenal signing him are almost nill. Liverpool wouldn’t want to sell their best player to a domestic rival mid season. If they refused selling him in the summer when he had the disadvantage of a 6 match ban on his head, would they sell him now when he is in a red hot form? No
Even if Liverpool are willing to negotiate he will not cost anything less than £80 million, which is almost twice the amount we paid for Mesut Ozil and I wouldn’t bet on Arsenal doing that. There are other options available on the market who will cost less, but they will struggle to match Suarez’s level.
